We believe that Jesus Christ commanded that two ordinances of the church be practiced: Communion (also called the Lord’s Supper) and Baptism. We believe that the elements (bread, the cup, water) are symbols of our relationship with the Lord. We do not believe that taking part in these ordinances causes a person to be saved. "The faith of each individual Christian is of the utmost importance as we believe that the Lord looks at our hearts as we take part in communion and baptism."
Communion
We take part in the Lord's Supper on the first Sunday of each month. Our belief is that the bread represents the body of Jesus Christ, which he gave for us on the cross. We believe that the cup represents the blood of Christ which was shed as a covering for our sins. Whenever we take part in the Lord's Supper, we are "proclaiming the Lord’s death until He comes." (I Cor. 11:26)
Baptism
We believe that the water applied in baptism represents the cleansing which
a sinner receives from the Holy Spirit. Baptism also serves as a symbol for
the believer that he or she is identifying with the death and resurrection
of Christ. Pastor Dan is a strong believer in baptism by immersion
(dunking) for individuals who have confessed faith in Christ.
